Calibration Tools & Techniques

Ricardo have developed a powerful calibration toolset which integrates with Ricardo advanced testing capability

The efficient calibration toolset consists of:

Design:

  • Experiment designs are matched to calibration task
  • Templates library developed for common tasks
  • Automatic test sequence generation from user defined variable ranges

Auto-Test:

  • Execution of test sequences using STARS
  • Automated testing and data quality checking
  • Up 600 test points per day achievable
  • Global modelling reduces testing requirements by up to 50%

Model:

  • Stochastic Process Models used as standard
  • High model accuracy and robustness to variable data quality
  • Multiple visualisation methods including multiple responses
  • Automatic calculation of confidence intervals and model quality statistics

Optimise:

  • Concurrent optimisation for multiple test cycles and/or vehicle applications
  • Multiple constraints can be applied, including cycle emissions and fuel consumption, map gradient, sensitivity & local constrains, e.g. combustion stability, combustion noise
  • Second by second prediction for transient cycles

Validate:

  • Calibrations automatically evaluated for robustness to component / sensor tolerances
  • Monte Carlo technique used to build responses for 1,000,000 engines using individual component tolerance specification
  • CoP risk and cost reduction opportunities can be quickly evaluated early on
