Ricardo has a long and successful delivery track record for the delivery of turnkey product development programmes especially in the passenger car, and commercial and defence vehicle sectors. Ricardo has its own vehicle delivery gateway process which is milestone driven with activities clearly broken down by major function and programme stage. This enables us to deliver high quality vehicle solutions on a global basis against exacting operational specifications and tight programme timescales.

Key aspects of the Ricardo service:

• State-of-the-art programme management processes, for example including engineering change management (ECM), parts quality (APQP, PPAP) and risk analysis (FMEA, DFA, DoE)
• Extensive use of computer aided design (including CATIA, Unigraphics, IDEAS, ProEngineer, CADDS and Autocad) for maximum efficiency and integration with customer processes
• A strong portfolio of CAE simulation tools for vehicle attribute development across systems including passive safety, vehicle dynamics, NVH, fuel economy optimization, lightweight structures and thermal systems
• Prototype build and development testing to Ricardo or customer standards, using both in-house, customer and third party facilities for maximum efficiency
• Production launch support, including placement of on-site Ricardo engineers throughout pre-series processes to manage parts quality and complexity, manufacturing engineering interface, and issue capture and resolution
