Commenting on the opening of the new facility, Ricardo CEO, Dave Shemmans, said: “Ricardo has from its foundation been committed to the development of new technologies and innovations powering all forms of transportation, and has been at the very forefront of efforts to improve fuel efficiency and reduce harmful emissions. The investments that the company has made both here at the Shoreham Technical Centre as well many sites around the world has enabled us to stay at the leading edge of technology and help our customers and partners move towards a sustainable – and profitable – future. The Sir Harry Ricardo Innovation & Sustainable Transport Centre aims to communicate the latest work of the company while also celebrating its many past achievements. I would like to thank Prince Andrew personally for formally opening this important new facility for us today.”
In addition to a new visitor reception area, this new centre will provide a focus for the display and communication of the very latest technologies and innovations of the Ricardo Group and its research and engineering partners around the world.

Jan-Peter Onstwedder Project Director The London CO2 Accord
Project Director for The London Accord, a colloborative research project which showed how to incorporate climate change into the rigorous financial decision making analysis that drives investment decisions. The project used specific investment banking research reports to draw out current thinking and approaches that can be applied by decision makers in companies and by investors. It comprised 24 reports from 19 organisations and in 780 pages created a usable reference guide for investors and policy makers. The results were published in December 2007 (www.london-accord.co.uk/final_report) with the sponsorship of BP, the City of London, Gresham College, Forum for the Future and the Z/Yen Group. Formerly Head of Risk, Supply and Trading, BP. Responsible for global risk management function for one of the largest energy trading businesses in the world. Fumio Akikawa Director Head of Product Engineering Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corp.
Mr. Fumio Akikawa has been named as Director of the Global Hybrid Center. Mr. Akikawa, a 35-year automotive and truck industry expert, also will continue in his current role as Director of Powertrain Development for MFTBC.

From London/Gatwick/M25 Take the M23/A23 south until you reach the A27. Travel west on the A27 for approximately 6 miles (towards Worthing and Southampton). At the traffic lights turn left (signed for Shoreham Airport.) The new Ricardo reception is the first turn on your left.
